Microsoft Surface 3 vs. Apple MacBook 2015: Features Like Kickstand, Detachable Keyboard, Stylus, LTE Support, Affordable Pricing And More On Surface 3 Can Batter The Powerful MacBook 2015 [Video Inside]
Microsoft has announced the arrival of the new Surface 3 tablet. It has come out to replace the older Surface 2 tablet that was released in 2013. Here is a comparison on specs of both the devices.
The thickness of the Surface 3 is 8.7 and weights 622 g whereas the thickness of the MacBook 2015 is 13.2 mm and it weighs 920 g. The Surface 3 has a 10.8 inch full HD display. However, the MacBook 2015 has a 12-inch display supports a higher resolution of 2304 x 1440 pixels. The batteries of both the devices can support around 10 hours of life.
The Surface 3 is housing a quad-core Intel Atom x7-Z7700 CPU that can produce a clocking speed of 1.66 GHz. The 64 GB storage variant is available with 2 GB and 4 GB RAM editions. The 128 GB storage variant is also available in 2 GB and 4 GB RAM versions.
The MacBook 2015 is available in two variants. The first variant features a dual-core Intel Core M CPU that offers a processing speed of 1.1 GHz along with 8 GB of RAM. This version comes with 256 GB storage. The other variant is equipped with a 1.2 GHz dual-core Intel Core M CPU, 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB storage. The two models of Surface 3 also feature Intel HD 5300 graphics.
Surface 3 Features That Are Absent On MacBook 2015
Though the MacBook is packed a high-end processing prowess, the productivity features that are absent on the MacBook 2015. The Surface 3’s keyboard can be detached so that users can use it as a tablet. It features a kickstand that is not present on the MacBook 2015.
The MacBook 2015 has only one USB-Type C connectivity port and to connect other devices to the laptop, users are required to purchase a dongle. Connectivity ports like full-sized USB 3.0, mini Display port, microSD card slot that are present on Surface 3 are unavailable on MacBook 2015. Web connectivity is only available through Wi-Fi on MacBook 2015 whereas the Surface 3 supports LTE and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Sensors for ambient light, proximity, accelerometer, gyroscope and manometer are provided on Surface 3. The MacBook 2015 lacks them all. MacBook 2015 has a 480 pixel FaceTime camera but the Surface 3 has a primary camera of 8 MP and a secondary camera of 3.5 MP with support for wide-angle shooting. Both cameras support full HD video shooting.
The Surface 3 comes with a Surface Pen stylus to provide the best productivity experience. The MacBook 2015 lacks it but is enable with Force Touch technology keypad that distinguishes between lighter and deeper taps.
Pricing
The Surface 3 64 GB Wi-Fi only model with 2 GB RAM is priced at $499 whereas the 128 GB storage variant with support for Wi-Fi and 4 GB RAM is priced at $599. The pricing of the LTE models have not been disclosed yet. The lowest configuration model of MacBook 2015 with 256 GB storage is priced at $1,299.
