Microsoft Surface vs. iPad 3 vs. Google Nexus Tablet: Software Companies Want Pieces of iPad Success
It seems that every company wants a chunk of iPad's success in the tablet market. Last week, Microsoft unveiled its Surface tablet that surprised many people. Now, Google announced its new Nexus tablet that will rival dominating and upcoming tablets in the market.
According to a report, Google will announce that it will be releasing a7-inch Android tablet in its developer conference later this week. The tablet will be called Nexus 7 and is expected to be the first device to run Google's next Android OS, Jelly Bean.
The public will know more about the Nexus tablet in the next few days when Google launched it in its developer's conference.
Surprisingly, rumors that the device will be available for $US199 for an 8 GB model and $US249 for 16 GB is an advantage for Google. Last year, Amazon launched its device, Kindle Fire, for the same prices and the gadget went selling like hotcakes.
Nexus 7 is expected to arrive in Australia early next month. However, Google is yet to confirm its release.
Since late March, rumors that Google may release its own tablet had began circulating.

Screen Display
The new Google Nexus tablet will sport a 7-inch display, which is smaller than that of Surface and iPad 3. Microsoft Surface Tablet will have a 10.6 inches touchscreen with a 16:9 aspect ratio. iPad 3 introduced the Retina display, with a 2048x1536 resolution on a 9.7-inch screen.
Processor
Google Nexus tablet will be equipped with 1.3Ghz quad-core Tegra 3 processor, a GeForce 12-core GPU. Microsoft Surface will have an ARM based version as well as Intel Mobile Processor and Nvidia Tegra 3. The latest iPad, on the other hand, features a new processor chip called the A5X, which has quad core graphics
Operating System
The main battle of the three companies is in their mobile operating system. Google and Microsoft are both software developers entering the hardware market. Google Nexus will debut the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS. Microsoft Surface will sport the latest Windows 8. Apple has its own operating system - iOS. iPad 3 is currently equipped with the iOS 5.
Price
One of the important things that a company should consider is the price of the device and if people can buy it. Rumors that Google's Nexus tablet will be marked $199 for the 8GB version and a 16GB model will cost $249. Microsoft did not reveal the price of the Surface on its launching event; however, critics and reviewers thought that the Surface will be a bit costly. Lastly, iPad 3 costs $599.
