Mike Tyson Abducted And Sexually Abused As A Child
Former boxing champion Mike Tyson revealed that he was abducted by a stranger and sexually abused when he was seven years old. The 48-year-old sportsman told the story of the incident during an appearance on SiriusXm satellite radio show Opie Radio recently.
"[The man] bullied me, sexually abused me and stuff...snatched me off the street. I was a little kid. Never seen him again," said Tyson, via TMZ. Tyson explained that he did not know the man who abused him as he ran away following one-time incidence and never saw his abuser again. When one of the radio hosts asked if the unfortunate event drastically changed him, he said that he didn't know.
Tyson did not report the abduction and sexual abuse that occurred and that sometimes, he forgets that it happened. He said that he just went on with his life. "I don't always remember, but maybe I do but I don't. I'm not ashamed or embarrassed by it," Tyson added. In his autobiography in 2013 entitled, Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth, Tyson opened up about his unfortunate childhood.
The boxing icon experienced a number of turbulence in his personal life, including arrests and substance abuse. Dubbed as "The Baddest Man On The Planet," Tyson was an undisputed heavyweight boxer in the 1980s. In 1986, he became the youngest heavyweight champion in history by beating Trevor Berbick at the age of 19.
In 1992, he was convicted of raping a teenage beauty queen, sentenced 10 years of imprisonment and served three years and one month in federal penitentiary with time off for good behaviour. After his release, he started to regain his heavyweight belts.
In 1997, he bit Evander Holyfield on both ears during the third round of their heavyweight rematch, which disqualified and suspended him from boxing for a while. In 2003, Tyson declared bankruptcy. In 2006, he retired from professional boxing. Following his retirement, Tyson appeared in TV shows and movies such as Entourage and Brothers and The Hangover.
