Miley Cyrus has finally confessed that it was a mistake for her to get engaged when she was not even eligible for drinking! The "Wrecking ball" singer who turned 21 in November says her engagement to "Hunger Games" actor Liam Hemsworth at 19 years of age was too fast and she should have waited for some more time before plunging into it.

In an upcoming interview with television host Barbara Walters, the twerk queen talked about how she took the step of getting engaged to Liam only because she was scared of being alone. However the "We Can't Stop" songstress confesses that she has conquered her fear in the past one year and now does not need to depend on anyone for her happiness.

"I was so scared of ever being alone, and I think, conquering that fear, this year, was actually bigger than any other transition that I had, this entire year," said Cyrus to Walters in the interview. Liam and Miley broke off their engagement in September after romancing for four glorious years. The singer however says she has no regrets and actually enjoyed wearing her engagement ring for one year!

"I don't ever want to have to need someone again, where you feel like, without them, you can't be yourself," said Miley to Barbara for the upcoming ABC News special, "Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013."

For Miley, getting engaged at 19 years of age was more of a fun than serious commitment but she is happy she is over it now and actually enjoys the moments of solitude in her house.

"I don't think I realized what 19 truly is, and I got engaged at 19, and I definitely wouldn't change being engaged," she said. "It was so fun wearing a fat rock for a few years," said Cyrus, adding, "But now, I just feel like I can actually be happy. I wait for those moments of silence, when I'm just at my house, by myself."

So did Miley and Liam break up because of lies or bitterness in their relationship?

"I don't think there was any, any lies," answers Miley. So does the singer who loves to write romantic songs believes she would ever fall in love again and tie the knot too?

"I think I'll want that in the times that it needs to be," repied Miley. However, going by Miley's antics it looks like she is enjoying nothing but being single at the moment. She loves to hook up or date several men, which is normal for a person of her age (than getting engaged as a teenager!) and is having the fun which she possibly missed when she was in a committed relationship with Liam.

The entire interview with Miley Cyrus will be aired on ABC News special "Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013″ on Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. ET. Do watch out.
