The 53rd edition of the Miss International 2013 will be held in Shinagawa Prince Hotel Hall, Tokyo on Dec. 17. The last Miss International pageant took place in the city was in 2007 with Priscila Perales of Mexico winning the title. After 5 years, this marks the return of the beauty contest at Tokyo.

The pageant was first held in Tokyo in 1968 seven years after being held at Long Beach, California. Japan's capital is considered the home of Miss International having hosted the completition many times more than any other city. With a population of more than 13 million, Tokyo is one of the major cities of the world. The pageant will conclude with Miss International 2012 Ikumi Yoshimatsu of Japan crowning her successor.
