Shinnok is a playable character in "Mortal Kombat X." WB Games

When “Mortal Kombat X” was released, there was already an official list of playable characters. However, it appears that modders were able to tap into unplayable ones to add to the roster.

Polygon reports that one modder XVermillion had announced this via Reddit, stating that he can now play as Baraka, Sindel or Rain by changing game the names of game files. In the “Mortal Kombat X” PC version, changing the Assets folder would allow players to use one character even though you are officially playing another one. The result of the change allows players to play as Rain (one of the character that he had modded as) complete with his model and moveset, even though he is playing one of character in the game, Shinnok.

Considering that this method is not completely accessing the new characters but rather replacing an original with a modded one, it’s not without faults. According to the modder, there are some moves that are overridden. But it’s one way to play as a character that you would otherwise not have access to in the official “Mortal Kombat X” roster.

Recently, a patch has just arrived for the game, and with it comes something exclusively for the PC version. When the version launched, there have been some major issues faced by players. VG 24/7 reports that the main cause was the unstable download of the game from Steam. With incomplete and sometimes failed downloaded packs, there have been so many cases of crashing among players.

Steam announced previously that it will be providing a Krypt Koin award as an apology for the issues that came with the PC launch. The promised 10,000 Krypt Koins have come with the latest patch alongside other fixes and improvements, totaling into a 15 GB update.

For players who are using the PS4 version of “Mortal Kombat X,” there was an issue reported for those who are trying to access and play a digital copy of the game. The issue has been dubbed as the Error CE-34878-0.

A quick step-by-step solution has been provided by WB Games. What players should do is sign out of the PSN and launch “Mortal Kombat X” again. You will then only sign back in to the PSN you’ve already loaded the game until the main menu. The developer assured that this is just a temporary fix until there is a permanent solution found.
