It’s confirmed—the father of new character Cassie Cage, Johnny Cage, will be coming to “Mortal Kombat X.” NetherRealm Studios’ Adam Urbano revealed this at the Game Developers Conference 2015.

According to Shoryuken, the source for fighting games, the senior producer had let the information slip twice. While Johnny Cage is also mentioned in part with the story mode, it has been confirmed that he will be a playable fighter as well.

“Mortal Kombat X” may be one of those fighting games that incorporates the cinematic feel into the entire gameplay. Speaking in an interview quoted by Z-Giochi, marketing manager Brian Goodman revealed that the developer aimed the same style of cinematics as its previous title “Injustice: Gods Among Us.”

“Our Story Mode is a huge feature, it’s very popular and it allows us to create within a space we’re comfortable with. We want the presentation to be big and movie-like—we just want you to think you’re playing a movie,” said Goodman in the interview.

Interestingly, apart from Cage, another character has been hinted at, though no confirmation came through. In an interview with IGN, Urbano also drops another name. He said that players can see Kenshi alongside a couple of unnamed fighters. There are still a few more weeks for revealing characters before the April release date, so best to keep an eye out for updates.

What better way to play as these characters—and whoever may be revealed in the coming weeks towards the release date—than with the “Mortal Kombat X” fightpad. For those who aren’t familiar, fightpads are those that use arcade-style pads, with buttons linked up in two diagonal rows on the right. The D-pad is still on the left side, though there is a glaring “Mortal Kombat” log in the middle that fans can’t miss.

PlayStation Lifestyle has spotted the “Mortal Kombat X” Wired fight pad for the PS4 and PS3, which is currently priced at $49.95. As the name of the controller suggests, it is designed for the upcoming “Mortal Kombat X” title, from the placing of the buttons to the ergonomic grip.

What’s also noticeable is that the “Mortal Kombat X” does not have analog sticks, but the face buttons are laid out in such a way that it mimics fighting games. Don’t get too excited playing the game, because it is a wired controller.

The controller is out or release on April 1. The source features a video displaying how the fight pad is used, which can also be seen in the clip below.
