Moto X (2016) to sport modular design; Full specs, features, leaked photos surface ahead of June 9 release date
Vector Thin and Vertex are the codenames of two variants of the upcoming Motorola Moto X (2016) smartphone. The recently leaked images indicates that Motorola will be introducing modular design on both the Moto X (2016) variants. Rumours are rife that the Moto X (2016) release date will be set in June.
The leaked images of two models of Moto X (2016) were recently revealed by HelloMotoHK on Google Plus. The rear panels of both the smartphones have 16-pin holes. A leaked photo of the alleged Moto X (2016) that was revealed in December 2015 also features 16-pin hole at the bottom portion of the rear panel.
According to Venture Beat, the Vector Thin and Vertex appear similar but they will be arriving with different internal specifications. The 16-pin hole will allow users to connect modules to the rear panels of both phones. The modules for Vector Thin and Vertex smartphones are called Amps. Through Amps, users will be able to access additional feature like more battery life, stereo speakers, pico projector and more.
Speculations suggest that Vector Thin will be coming with high-end specs. It will house a 5.5-inch Quad HD scree and it will be powered by Snapdragon 820 chipset. The SoC will be supported by 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM. Its native storage will be 32 GB. The rear is expected to house a OIS enabled 13 MP shooter. It will be equipped with a 2600 mAh battery. It is rumored to arrive with an ultra-thin profile of 5.2 mm.
Vertex will be a midrange smartphone that will be featuring a 5.5-inch full HD screen. It will be powered by Snapdragon 625 chipset and 2 GB or 3 GB of RAM. It is rumored to arrive in two storage editions of 16 GB and 32 GB. The 16 MP rear camera will be equipped with laser and phase detection autofocus features. It will be coming with a huge battery of 3500 mAh capacity. Its thickness is speculated as 7 mm.
Since “August 24” is mentioned on the screens of Vector Thin and Vertex, speculations suggest that it will be released in August. However, there are other rumours that claim that Moto X (2016) release date will be set on June 9 when Lenovo will hold its Lenovo tech World conference.
