Moto X Line of Leaked Specs w/o Key Lime Pie, Motorola Rebrand Leaked Before Phone Reveal?
Before getting into the weekend, there have been several leaks and developments following the announcement of Dennis Woodside of the Moto X as an official phone.
Here's a round-up of what is so far known about the Moto X phone, possible specs, and a possible launch date.
Phandroid reports that the lineup of specs has been revealed by @evleaks, a trusted source when it comes to breaking tidbits about devices. According to the source, the Moto X may just be fairly standard in terms of the smartphones of today.
Some of the leaked features include the 1.7 GHz MSM8960 Pro, similar to what is seen in the dual-core of Samsung Galaxy S4, 720p display, 16GB of storage and 2GB of RAM, and a 10-megapixel front and 10-megapixel rear camera.
Of the former camera specs, leaked photos supposedly taken with the Moto X proves that it has a 10,5p-megapixel camera, according to Know Your Mobile. The full resolution photos are also pegged to have a 16:9 ratio, which can mean better a widescreen shots taken with this phone.
Other reports have speculated that the phone may come with the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie OS, making it the first Android smartphone to run with the new OS, but iDigitalTimes reports that @evleaks has posted that it may run with the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean instead.
If this is the case, then there really seems nothing spectacular going on for the Moto X, unless Google and Motorola surprises fans with the lower than average price range, or some similar announcement.
Though some publications, like Society and Religion have give their two cents' worth, speculating that a lower price of $249 to $300 may not be as possible, as a $400 to $450 may be more likely, with its slew of features.
A rebranded Motorola: Is this Hello again?
After the series of campaign leaks and continuing leaks of the Moto X phone, now the newest rumor for Motorola is its new logo, rebranded and restyled to have a touch of Google and Android in it.
Know Your Mobile reports that the logo features the trademark M of Motorola that's placed inside a circle with colorful shapes, supposedly the flavor of Android in the logo.
Motorola was bought by Google way back in mid-2012, with projects ongoing behind the scenes with on announcements, except when the Moto X phone broke.
According to previous reports, the logo had already appeared in a public event in Chicago that was also sponsored by Motorola, which means that this is not a logo that has been Photoshopped and circulated all over the Internet for speculation's sake.
So far, from what has already appeared in terms of Motorola's new look, two ad campaigns have surfaced this week. The first campaign was a more somber approach, with the message of "goodbye Moto" while the other is a more upbeat concept saying hello again, perhaps a nod to the rebranding.
Whether or not everything ties together in the speculated August launch (of the Moto X) remains to be confirmed, as the only official announcement made by Motorola is the planned summer launch.
