Last October 28, Motorola announced the arrival of the new Droid Turbo smartphone with powerful specs. How does it compare against the leading smartphones of the market? We have compared the Apple iPhone 6 Plus with Motorola Droid Turbo to know whether the latter can disturb the popularity of the former.

Processor - Apple A8 vs Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 Chipset

The iPhone 6 Plus phablet with 5.5-inch display is powered with the latest 64-bit Apple A8 processor. Most of the current Android smartphones feature octa-core and quad-core processors that offer varied clocking speeds of more than 1.8 GHz. However, Apple's A8 is a dual-core processor and it offers a processing speed of 1.4 GHz.

The Apple A8 processor is well-supported by PowerVR GX6650 graphics along with 1 GB of RAM. According to PhoneArena, even though the processor details sounds inferior to most Android handsets available in the market, it still offers snappy performance. Moreover, users can enjoy high-end graphics hungry games on the iPhone 6 Plus. The A8 processor is supported by M8 motion coprocessor that has been included to gather information from sensors present on the device and sends it to A8 for processing.

The Motorola Droid Turbo is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset that comes housed with a quad-core 2.7 GHz processor and 3 GB RAM alongside Adreno 420 graphics. The Snapdragon 805 supports fastest LTE connectivity and offers faster performance without impacting the battery life. It is the same processor that powers up the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 that comes with a huge 5.7-inch quad HD screen. The Motorola Droid Turbo also features a 5.2-inch quad HD screen.

Software - iOS 8 vs Android v4.4 KitKat

The iPhone 6 Plus comes loaded with the new iOS 8. It brings whole lot of new features. Some of the existing features like Siri and Spotlight have been enhanced. The Notification Center supports interactive notifications. The Apply Pay allows users to use the iPhone 6 Plus to make payments by flashing their handset at the payment counter. The Health app can provide users with various health related information like heart rate and blood pressure and so on.

The Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo does not feature the latest Android Lollipop OS but comes loaded with Android v.4.4.4 KitKat. It one of the first devices in line to receive the Android L update, claims PhoneArena. Since the handset is available through Verizon, there are some Verizon apps on the device. The Moto Display can automatically display notifications when you reach your device. According to information collected by the onboard sensors, the handset can automatically silent your handset when you are driving your card and furnish you with driving directions. When the Android Lollipop arrives on Droid Turbo, newer and upgraded UI features will come to the handset.

Battery Prowess - 2915 mAh vs 3900 mAh

The iPhone 6 Plus has a 2,915 mAh battery that offers longer battery life. Our report on Apple iPhone 6 Plus battery life test states that the handset can offer 3G talk time of up to 24 hours and over 9 hours of continuous internet browsing.

The 3,900 mAh non-removable battery is one of the USPs of Motorola Droid Turbo as the manufacturer claims that the battery can last for up to 48 hours with mixed usage, states PhoneArena. By charging the handset using the Motorola Turbo Charger for 15 minutes, it can gain over 8 hours of power for usage.
