Motorola Moto X: Is the $795 Price Justified?
If you are thinking of buying a Motorola Moto X, below are the specifications and price range to help you decide.
Design And Chassis
Unlike most smartphones in the market, Motorola Moto X went for the small and elegant look with a 129.3 mm x 65.3 mm x 10.4 mm dimension. It has an edge-to-edge screen, which makes it look exquisite. It also weighs less than most smartphones at 130 grams. Moto X has a remarkably thin and short volume and snooze buttons placed on its right edge.
Screen And Display
The Motorola Moto X sports a 4.7-inch edge-to-edge screen. It has a display of 720 x 1, 280 pixels (312 ppi). Despite having a lower pixel density than most smartphones, Moto X still gives a stunning display as it uses an RGB subpixel structure.
Performance
The Moto X is powered by a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor with an available 2GB of RAM. This is lower than most smartphones but Moto X still performs fast. It can launch and close apps swiftly despite running on a dual-core processor. It has an Android v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) platform which gives you a choice of over 650, 000 apps.
Another plus is the Touchless Voice Control. By saying "Okay, Google now," the phone will wake from sleep. This is possible due to the handset's X8 Mobile Computing System's natural language processor.
Camera
The camera is not as impressive as Lumia 1020's 41 MP or Xperia Z1's 20.7 MP. But it will suffice for casual shooting with a 10MP camera unit. Autofocus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, HDR and face and smile detection are available features. It also has the Quick Launch function which allows you to launch the camera with just a flick of the wrist.
Price Range
With the above specs, the Moto X is pricey than the popular smartphones in the market. According to shopbot.com, the price range in Australia is $795 to $869.95.
The Ultimate Decree
Motorola's Moto X looks elegant and performs well. The Quick Launch and Touchless Voice Control features are really nice. But it's a little too pricey than the average smartphone.
