‘My Kitchen Rules’ Australia 2016: It’s end of road for MKR miners; Fans react after Alex and Gareth elimination
Tuesday’s episode 32 of “My Kitchen Rules” 2016 saw a flurry of awesome dishes cooked by both QLD’s Alex and Gareth and South Australia’s Rosie and Paige. While both teams surprised judges Pete Evans, Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge with their cooking mastery, one team had to go in “sudden death.”
It was Alex and Gareth who had to leave the Kitchen Headquarters as they secured a score of 49 out of 60, while Rosie and Paige beat them by just three points. Soon Twitter got flooded with tweets in favour of the beloved MKR miners.
“Disappointed Alex & Gareth are out of #mkr but glad it was on a high. They should be proud of that performance,” said one of Alex and Gareth admirer.

Fans were disappointed about the fact that Alex and Gareth got eliminated even after they were absolutely stunning in their three-course meal and everybody thought they deserved a second chance. However, there were no second chances.
Chillies were an integral part of Alex and Gareth’s meal and they were able to include chillies in all three meals. Even though the miners’ entree of five spice prawns with papaya salad and coriander dressing was highly appreciated by the judges for its flavour and presentation, the judges found Rosie and Paige’s entree of cauliflower fritters with yoghurt sauce and tabouli stronger.
Next, Alex and Gareth served their main of snapper with green chilli coconut broth. The judges loved it and Pete found the main course sensational for homecooks. The miners had hit the chilli mark perfectly. But Rosie and Paige’s roasted quail with peas, mint and speck made Colin’s leg go pink. It was absolutely perfect.
The South Australia besties served flourless Persian cake with rosewater jelly for dessert. It looked boring but when the judges dug their teeth into it, they were surprised by the flavour and textural crunch on the outside.
Alex and Gareth took the competition one notch up with their doughnuts with chilli chocolate ice cream and rhubarb. There were a few inconsistencies and the doughnut was not cooked properly. However, “it’s by no means a bad dessert.”
As all good things come to an end, Alex and Gareth’s stay in the competition came to a disappointing end with judges selecting Rosie and Paige as the winners of the “sudden death” round.
“My Kitchen Rules” continues Wednesday night at 7.30pm on Seven.
