NBA 2K17: Tips to not get banned, full details about violations
NBA 2K17: 2K Sports is cracking down on rule violators, hackers and those who try to exploit glitches in the popular sports videogame. Here, we offer tips to avoid getting banned and ways to lift a ban.
Often times, gamers exploit loopholes in the system to their advantage, in an attempt to improve their chances of success in online modes such as MyPark and Pro-Am. However, 2K Sports has been extremely vigilant in recent weeks by slapping permanent bans on familiar faces who have taken to Youtube to protest the same.
NBA 2K17: Tips to avoid a ban
First and foremost, its advisable to steer clear of third-party websites that are offering cheaper Virtual Currency (VC). Some of these websites offer VC for nearly half the price as compared to 2K but could result in a MyPlayer getting banned from playing online modes.
Also, those who purchase VC from these unauthorized sites are typically forced to create a new account and a new MyPlayer -- which essentially renders all the previous accomplishments as obsolete. There are also many who are selling My Team points (MTP) or VC to fellow 2K users via pre-funded wallets. This is a dangerous exercise and could result in a permanent ban.
There are some who repeatedly create a new MyPlayer to take advantage of the 500 VC received from 2K. Some have been known to continuously create and delete the MyPlayer to collected an unlimited amount of VC. Again, this practice will most likely get the gamer a permanent ban from 2K Sports.
For those trying to sell VC, it's important to avoid posting ads on Facebook or Twitter. This kind of promotion is viewed as a first violation from 2K. If the said user continues to promote ads, a ban is inevitable.
And finally, there are PC users who try to use bots or hacks to try and exploit glitches in the game for unlimited VC or MTP. This is also a dangerous exercise. Over its last two patches, 2K Sports has made an effort to eliminate all hackers.
NBA 2K17: How to get a ban lifted?
In recent weeks, many players have been slapped with permanent bans. During previous editions of the game, most violators would receive temporary bans that typically last only a week. However, 2K has been surprisingly vigilant with 2K17 and that has taken many gamers by surprise.
Those who have been permanently banned will ned to contact 2K Sports' customer service department to justify their wrongdoing and request for re-entry into the game. The easier option, however, is to simply create a new account and refrain from repeating previous violations. This would mean the player loses all previously collected VC and will need to create a MyPlayer from the scratch.
Last week, a popular 2K player that goes by the alias of "LSK" was slapped with a permanent ban for flaunting some of the rules. He took to his Youtube channel and explained that 2K Sports banned him for criticising the game developers. However, Forbes has reported that 2K has never banned a player for offering negative commentary but rather only for exploiting the rules.
Jason Argent, senior vice president at 2K Sports, offered an official statement on the reasons behind LSK's ban. "The NBA 2K team works hard to ensure we maintain a fair and secure marketplace for our dedicated community. We will not allow users who choose to break our terms and conditions or engage in prohibited behaviour to harm other gamers’ experiences."
