The Toronto Raptors escaped with the 84-82 road win on Saturday (Sunday in Australia) courtesy of a Cory Joseph three-point shot as the time expired.

The Wizards were in control for most of the night and had an 80-72 lead with over four minutes to go in the game. Joseph, who had 9 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field, hit the shot from behind the arc to cap a 14-2 run for the Raptors to end the game.

Point guard Kyle Lowry led all scorers with 27 points with six three-pointers; forward DeMar DeRozan had 23 points on 9-of-21 shooting and centre Bismack Biyombo grabbed 16 rebounds for the Raptors, who have won four straight games.

No other Raptor scored in double-figures but Toronto held the Wizards to just 32.9 per cent shooting from the field (27-of-82 field goals) and 30.4 per cent from behind the arc (7-of-23 three-point field goals).

Wizards point guard John Wall had the chance to give Washington the three-point lead with over three seconds to go in the final quarter but missed two free throws to give the Raptors the opportunity to steal the road win.

The Raptors made an excellent play off the time out for the drive and kick out that led to Joseph’s three pointer and the Wizards fell to their fourth consecutive loss. Wall had 18 points but shot just 6-of-25 field goals while backcourt mate Bradley Beal had 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Centre Marcin Gortat posted a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Washington will try to snap the four-game skid on Tuesday when they face the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road while Toronto will try to stretch their four-game winning streak when they take on the Phoenix Suns at home.
