NBC’s The Voice Knockouts 2017: Hunter Plake, Ashley Levin Hope To Shine
“The Voice” season 12 kicks off its knockout rounds this Monday on NBC. Hunter Plake and Ashley Levin join 30 other contestants in hoping for a slot in the upcoming live shows. They were two of the most popular “steals” from the battle rounds.
Rewind: Hunter Plake leaves Team Alicia, joins Team Gwen
Hunter Plake’s “Dancing On My Own” (Robyn) sing-off with Jack Cassidy was one of the highlights of this year’s battle rounds. His original coach Alicia Keys took some time before making a call in favour of Cassidy. Coaches Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani both pushed their buttons to steal Plake.
Plake chose Gwen, the only other coach who turned for him during his blind audition. This was Gwen’s second victory against Adam. They also competed over Brennley Brown from Blake Shelton’s team on the first night of battle rounds.
Forward: Ashley Levin Sings ‘Fancy’ by Reba McEntire
Three coaches tried to steal Ashley Levin from Team Blake after her “How Blue” (Reba McEntire) battle with Casi Joy. She got a three-chair turn at the time, failing to impress Adam Levine. For his part, Adam had a change of heart and tried to fight for Levin after her compelling sing-off in the battles. Levin chose Alicia, who also turned for her during the blinds.
Levin sings another McEntire this week, hoping “Fancy” could take her to the live rounds. NBC’s The Voice account has a special preview of her knockout performance on Twitter. (Watch below.)
On “The Voice” official YouTube channel, the video clip of Levin’s battle with Casi Joy has drawn in over a million views. In contrast, Plake’s battle with Cassidy has captivated over 850,000 viewers, as of this writing. The most popular battle clip features winner Mark Isaiah and Gaby Borromeo, with almost two million views, so far. (Watch below.)
Eight contestants made it to the knockout rounds through the coaches’ steal privilege. Joining Plake, Levin and Brown as steals are: Felicia Temple (Team Alicia to Team Blake), Dawson Coyle (Team Blake to Team Alicia), Autumn Turner (Team Alicia to Team Adam), Caroline Sky (Team Gwen to Team Blake) and Davina Leone (Team Gwen to Team Adam).
NBC’s “The Voice” 2017 Knockouts will air in three parts, airing on April 3, 4 and 10. The live shows will premiere on April 17, Monday.
