“Neighbours” recap
The episode opened with Lauren pulling back from Ned’s surprise kiss. Ned insisted that they have a connection, but Lauren said it’s all in his head and that he’s making her feel uncomfortable. Later, Ned walked in on Brad and Terese sharing an intimate moment. Ned accused them of having an affair with Terese. He said he saw them entering a motel and spending every waking moment together. Brad insisted he’s not having an affair with his ex-wife. Ned did not believe him and threatened to tell Lauren about their supposed affair. Brad was forced to tell him the truth: that Terese paid Cecilia to give a false testimony and frame Paul. She got worried that it might be the reason why he skipped town. “I love Lauren,” Brad said. “I would never cheat on her.” Ned said that Lauren is an amazing woman and promised he’ll keep his dad’s secret. At one point, Ned said sorry to Brad and Lauren for creating some rift between them. While Brad quickly accepted Ned’s apology, Lauren looked uncomfortable, but said that she appreciated Ned’s move. When she chanced upon Ned alone, Lauren said he had to tell Brad about the kiss because it’s too big a secret to keep from him. Ned stopped her and said his stupid mistake won’t happen again. He begged her not to tell Brad, fearing that it will destroy the good father-and-son relationship they are having now. “It will end us,” Brad said. “I just got my father back, don’t take him away from me again.”
Elsewhere, Sheila lashed at Xanthe for thinking about undergoing breast augmentation. Sheila told the young girl that there’s nothing wrong with her body. Piper and Ben walked in, and Xanthe blasted at them for betraying her and interfering. Xanthe also said she made the choice of not getting through with it. Despite her friends’ apologies, Xanthe said the damage has been done. Sheila was quick to blame Angus and wasted no time letting him know about it. Sheila told Angus that it’s his fault for dumping Xanthe and making her think that she’s not good enough. Later, however, Sheila calmed down and went back to apologise to Angus. Susan met her at the door and said he wasn’t there yet. Sheila talked to her about her worries, that she may be doing something that’s not right that triggered Xanthe to do something like that. Susan mentioned that Xanthe’s mom is obsessed with her looks and maybe that’s what caused Xanthe’s problems with her body. Susan told Sheila that she’s a good role model for Xanthe, and that the girl just needs to get comfortable with her own body. Ben went to see Xanthe and tried to pry out from her the real reason why she thought of getting breast implants. Xanthe revealed that she has always felt ugly. When she was 10 years old, Xanthe’s mum also told her that she’s fat, and that she needed to lose weight or else she won’t find a man. He assured her that she’s not fat and that she’s beautiful. Later, Xanthe made up with her BFF forever, Piper. As they shared a hug, Sheila arrived in and went on a tirade about loving one’s self no matter what age, size or shape they are in.
Paul, meanwhile, was seen in the middle of the forest, where he met a man who said Paul needs to pay a lot for a fake passport. Paul then called Steph to meet him alone, and asked for $5,000. Later, Steph arrived and lashed at Paul for running away. She said it made him look even more guilty, and his actions would make her lose the motel. Paul said if Steph brings him the money for the passport, he would sign over his share for the motel that would ensure a steady income and a bright future for her and her son. Steph argued that she didn’t want to break the law, but Paul said she won’t and instead help an innocent man. Paul insisted he can’t go back to jail because it will destroy him, and begged Steph to help him. Later, Steph looked at Paul’s signed note expressing their agreement about the motel, as well as the money he’s asking for.
