New Asus Transformer Book T300 is the Best Android + Windows 8 Hybrid Around
Asus continues to prove that it is a force to reckon with on portable computing industry. The company has revealed another device worth checking out: the new Transformer Book Trio - a Windows 8 and Android hybrid offering the best of both worlds.
Is this the best tablet-laptop combo around? Asus has the answer.
When the first Transformer Book came out, people were left wondering why Asus decided to combine two operating systems. The Transformer Book T300 gives people option in choosing their work setting. Likewise, Asus included a screen that might be too large for a tablet setting, 13.3 inches.
If Asus thinks 13.3 is ideal for the hybrid then there must be a good reason for it.
People should see beyond the size as the hybrid is one of the best around. The CPU features include the i3-4010U (1.7GHz), i5-4200U (1.6-2.6GHz) and the i7-4500U (1.8-3.0GHz). Asus also equipped the new Transformer Book with Intel's HD Graphics 4400 offering reliable graphics.
Another noteworthy feature is the display which is at 13.3" 1080p IPS panel. The display has 10-point capacitive multitouch capabilities. Display senses are at 6mm contact point compared to 9mm. This allows the hybrid to offer better precision. The Transformer Book offers up to 8GB memory. This means a lower end Core i3 Model will have 4GB of memory while the higher end will include 8GB onboard.
The device comes with pure SSD storage. It uses NGFF/M.2 standard with supporting 64/128/256GB options. Other specs include a 720p front camera and 1080p rear camera. People may find it interesting to take photos and capture videos using a 13.3" tablet. Connectivity options include 802.11n USB 3.0, microSD, micro-HDMI 1.4 and 3.5mm headphone/mic.
The dock also has additional micro-USB 3.0 port.
The T300, according to Asus, offers up to 8 hours battery with its 6710 mAh lithium polymer battery. However, the company has not said anything about additional life when battery is docked.
The dock itself packs on large multitouch touchpad and backlit keys. The half of the tablet is around 342mm x 216mm x 11.5mm. It also weighs 1.1kg. The keyboard dock is around 340mm x 216mm x 11mm. This adds 800g to the total weight. Together, the T300 is almost an ultrabook. People can detach the tablet if they want to or depending on preferences and needs.
Asus has yet to announce the pricing and actual shipment date.
