“New Girl” Season 5 premieres on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016 on FOX, several months after the show took a break in May. The new season kicks off with the premiere episode titled “Big Mama P,” which features an engagement party for Cece (Hannah Simone) and Schmidt (Max Greenfield), complete with a Bollywood dance number. The cast will also literally welcome a new girl named Reagan, played by Megan Fox in the latter part of the season. Plus, watch out for some major revelations from the characters of the sitcom.

According to FOX, in “New Girl’s” “Big Mama P” episode, Schmidt and Cece will ask Nick (Jake Johnson) and Jess (Zooey Deschanel) to be the Best Man and Maid of Honour at their wedding. That’s why the two ex-lovers will scramble to arrange an engagement party for their best friends. However, Jess unexpectedly invites Cece’s mom (Anna George) to the party and her presence at the event complicates things between the engaged couple. Because of this, Cece will reveal something shocking to Schmidt.

In the “Big Mama P” preview video below, which was posted on the show’s official YouTube channel, Jess will introduce Schmidt’s special number with his best man, Nick. Jess, who is riding a motorised wheelchair, will attempt to crack a joke but it will not get her some laughs.

“I’m the maid of honor, but when I fell down the stairs, I wish I was made of rubber,” Jess says in the YouTube video, followed by an awkward silence.

She quickly recovers, in true Jess fashion, and makes way for Schmidt and Nick.

“This one goes out to the secret romantic in the audience, just a little reminder that love conquers all,” she adds.

Schmidt and Nick will present an Indian Bollywood dance number for Cece, who will seem touched by their effort. However, her mom will not be as impressed by the performance.

According to an exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter, George, who plays Priyanka Parikh in “New Girl” Season 5, will not approve of her future son-in-law.

In another promo video for the TV series, Fox, as Reagan, admits to Schmidt that she and Cece hooked up before, leaving him stunned.

Reagan will fill in for Jess, who, according to the story line will attend jury duty. In real life, Deschanel is on maternity leave, after giving birth to her daughter Elsie Otter in July. She will briefly appear in “New Girl” for five episodes, which she pre-taped.

Meanwhile Fox will make her show debut on the sixth episode. Her character, Reagan, is described as a gorgeous pharmaceutical sales representative who is in town for a short while to do some business. Reagan will rent out Jess’ room while she’s away.

In an interview with TVLine, “New Girl” star, Johnson, says that Fox will offer a fun and fresh twist to the series that fans might not expect.

“We replaced Jess’ energy with a different energy in the loft. Everyone acts differently, there’s a slightly different feeling to everything — but the show, at its core, was the same, which was a neat experiment to be part of,” Johnson told TV Line.

In addition to George, the first episode of “New Girl” Season 5 will also feature Rob Riggle (Big Schmidt), Kenneth Bowers (Glen), Fred Melamed (J. Cronkite Valley-Forge), Nelson Franklin (Robby), Margaret Newborn (restaurant patron), Lynna Yee (waitress) and Mona Sishodia (Not-Mom).

“New Girl” Season 5 “Big Mama P” will air on Jan. 5, 2016 at 8/7c on FOX.
