New 'Injustice 2' trailer reveals Catwoman's skills and abilities in gameplay
A new “Injustice 2” trailer has revealed yet another character in action: none other than Catwoman. Though the character was previously featured in another trailer for the game, the title’s developer, NetherRealm Studios, has shown off what Catwoman is capable of in a new gameplay video.
Fans of Selina Kyle (Catwoman to most) can see the character going head-to-head with the likes of other popular DC characters such as Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn and even the Dark Knight himself, Batman. The gameplay video shows off Catwoman’s agility and sharp combos that players can exploit and use to their advantage. Furthermore, Catwoman’s whip can also be utilised for long distance attacks. The weapon is also used in her super ability, in which Catwoman drags her foes with her motorcycle before finishing them off by dropping the motorbike on top of them.
Though Catwoman toys between the role of villain and hero, “Injustice 2” promises a whole plethora of antagonists within the DC universe. Characters such as Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, Swamp Thing, Deadshot and Captain Cold have been confirmed as new playable characters in the upcoming game.
The forthcoming “Injustice” sequel will also feature another feline character in the form of Cheetah. Similar to Catwoman, Cheetah also features notable speed and ability that will give her an upper hand against her opponents. What differs between Cheetah and Catwoman is that the former also boasts supernatural strength under her belt.
Taking the game’s upcoming release into consideration, it has been speculated that NetherRealms Studios is nearing the tail end of its trailers and character reveals. This, of course, has not yet been confirmed so fans should continue to be on the lookout for more surprises from creative director Ed Boon and his team in the months leading up to the game’s launch.
The sequel kicks off with the storyline that was first established in its predecessor, "Injustice: Gods Among Us." Having established itself in the first game, the story this time around will explore the histories of the game’s diverse cast of superheroes and supervillains. While some characters will be returning for the sequel, NetherRealm Studios has made sure to appease fans with its lineup of new cast members to join the roster.
“Injustice 2” is set for May 16 release. It will be available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Catch Catwoman in action in her latest trailer below:
