New Plants vs. Zombies 2 Dev Diary Feature New Worlds; Sticker Book Brains and Beanstalk Now Out
Even though PopCap Games still hasn't given any word on the release date of the much-awaited Plants vs. Zombies 2 or given word on the progress that the current beta testing is getting, it did release another developer diary, Behind the Brainz, in its official YouTube account.
This time, the developers are talking about the different worlds that the gamers can get and what their inspirations were in creating such unique places on the map.
"If we're gonna go big, let's go really big. We thought it would be really fun to not only go to different areas but different time periods," said Mark Barrett, graphic artist of PopCap Games.
The developers reveal that the idea of having a map for Plants vs. Zombies is not just an add-on inspired by the Super Mario games back then, but to also add some kind of progress tracker in the game, something that was not available in the original version.
"What we wanted to do with this game is give you a sense of showing your progress on a map. So we came up with the idea of a world map, which is kind of a callback to some Mario World," said Michael Fromwiller, game engineer.
The developers also reveal that one of the more challenging levels of the game is really the Wild West, as the mine carts in the adventure mode changes the way that the game is fundamentally played.
Know more about the three levels, and the different new challenges, landscapes, and strategies that the worlds contain before Plants vs. Zombies 2 hits worldwide release, though the date is still not announced.
Though an interesting to point out: in the comments section of the developer diary on the official Plants vs. Zombies YouTube channel, there is a notable comment that deserves mention:
"Trust me. People won't have to wait that much longer. I swear. But yes, it takes time and we wanna get this... Right. "
The most significant bit of information revealed would have to be the fact that, apart from the three worlds that have already been revealed, there are more worlds that are already being teased for release--so best stay tuned for that one.
Plants vs. Zombies sticker book for kids
As though the Munnys hype wasn't enough, there is also news of a sticker-story book that has been based on the addictive game from PopCap.
Recently announced by Harper Collins and the Plants vs. Zombies official Twitter account is the new addition to the franchise, this time solely for kids--and probably the addicted kid-at-heart:
"There's a zombie on your... bookshelf! Get PLANTS VS ZOMBIES BRAINS AND THE BEANSTALK today!"
According to Harper Collins, the storybook fuses the old fairytale with the premise of Plants vs. Zombies, wherein Jack from the original Beanstalk story will get into the game's world where he will have to battle the zombies with the use of the magical beanstalk and other plants. Crazy Dave will also be making a cameo-wonder what his role will be.
From Annie Auerbach and PopCap Game, with illustrations from Charles Grosvenor and Jeremy Roberts, the book description goes:
"The zombies want Jack's brains! He must work together with the plants--especially the beanstalk--to stop them. Join the plants and zombies in this raucous retelling of the classic fairy tale!"
You may not have been one of the lucky few to own a Plants vs. Zombies-inspired Munny, but this could be a slight consolation at only $4.41 at Amazon.
