Apple, it appears, is using a singular design template for the 2013 release date of the 9.7-inch iPad 5 and the 7.9-inch iPad Mini 2, a new report said.

The new design schematics from NowhereElse.fr confirmed earlier assertions that the bigger iPad is assuming the Mini look, slimmed down and compact, Apple Insider said in a report.

The profile redraw is suppose to lure back Apple tablet buyers, who were drawn in big numbers to the iPad Mini form, which is easier to hand and lug along. When the Mini debuted late last year, it romped its way into eclipsing the original iPad that overall sales of the latter were reduced into alarming levels.

There were suggestions that the heavier iOS slate could become extinct but Apple decided to repackage the product, which according to the late Steve Jobs sported the optimal design and functions for tablet use.

What consumers will get later this is an iPad that is hardly identifiable with its four previous builds, the latest confirmation of which is the schematics republished by NowhereElse.fr.

In it, the iPad 5 is supposedly trimmed down that it shed significant heft from the iPad 4. The tablet width was diminished to pave the way for the thinner bezels around the Retina-powered display screen.

The body redesign also led to the relocation of the iPad 5 speaker, which is now in a downward orientation compared to its predecessor's backward direction.

The gadgets now share a body curve that further tapers off the edges, further convincing consumers' eyes of a very thin tablet profile.

While Apple is very silent on the matter, analysts are convinced that engineers pushed down the total iPad weight by as much as 33 per cent. The thickness was also shaved off by up to 15 per cent.

The expectation is for the iPad 5 and the iPad Mini 2 to be pushed at the same time following the iPhone 5S release date that is pegged September this year.

However, analysts have projected that the iPad 5 would break the scene a little earlier, likely between late September and early October. The Mini 2 will then follow shortly anytime within early Q4 2013.
