Microsoft has launched a new wireless adapter for Xbox One consoles. What makes this new feature extra special is it allows gamers to play their favourite Xbox One titles on any Windows 10 device without controller cables.

The wireless adapter is a black USB dongle which, at first glance, looks like a USB drive, except of course for its huge Xbox branding. The Redmond-based tech giant made the device available on its online store starting Oct. 22 for only around $34.

The device is not costly on its own; however, potential buyers will have to get a separate Xbox One controller for their Windows 10 device. This is expected to cost approximately $83, which is a relatively small price to pay for the convenience of being able to play Xbox One games without any strings attached.

The adapter is functional with any tablet, laptop or PC that runs on Windows 10. It will also work for players who usually stream their games to their PCs. Once the adapter is plugged into the PC, the wireless controller will automatically recognise it. Once the signal is detected, players can begin to enjoy their games without worrying about cords.

The Windows 10 devices to be used with the adapter must have a USB 2.0 or a USB 3.0 port. It is only through these ports that the wireless adapter can be paired with the wireless controller.

The package also comes with a USB extender cable. This allows gamers to extend the USB connection to their device to improve the dongle's accessibility and placement.

Unfortunately, it seems that the wireless adapter is exclusive for Xbox One, which is sad news for Xbox 360 owners. At this point, it remains unknown whether or not the Redmond-based tech company has any plans of making a wireless adapter for its previous-generation console, according to Tech Times.
