The first major feature update of Windows 10 known as Threshold 2 earlier scheduled to release in October will finally land in early November. The upcoming Windows 10 Fall update is expected to bring a variety of new features and fixes.

The update will be released with the official name “Windows 10 Fall Update”, according to a report in Thurrott. Microsoft is yet to confirm the specific date of the release, however. The Thurrott report speculates the update will be identified by Version number 1511 indicating the date of the release.

The November update will include number of UI improvements supposed to be incorporated into the final version of Windows 10. Users can upgrade to the Windows 10 Fall Update via normal Windows Update without any pre-requisites.

The update will be released as a cumulative update and not as a build. Devices activated to Windows 10 will get the update immediately.

The upgrade will support PCs activated with Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 product keys. This means, Windows 7 and Windows 8 users that have updated to Windows 10 will directly move to the latest version of the OS.

It will be named “Windows 10 November 2015” in the Windows Update. The upgrade will include new features for Cortana such as the ability send text directly from a PC and multiple improvements for the Edge browser.

Moreover, an improved Media Creation Tool and a new messaging app will also be introduced with the update. The Push Button Reset feature will also be updated with the new release.

The update was also supposed to include extensions for Microsoft's Edge browser. But it has been delayed till 2016 to be part of the next update, reports IGN.

Certain UI changes include coloured titled bars for apps and an enhanced context menu. The update will also bring an extra column of Live Tiles to the Start menu, native calling and messaging from Skype.
