Google may have stopped shipping the Nexus 4 altogether. The 16 GB variant of the device has run out of stocks in the U.S. The remaining stocks of the device are fast depleting in other countries as well.

Earlier IBTimes had reported that the 8 GB variant of the Nexus 4 may be discontinued. The stocks for the device soon ran out. The depleting stocks of the 16 GB variant have led to speculation that the device itself may be discontinued.

Google had launched the Nexus 4 on Oct 29, in the year 2012. The device has a 4.7 inch screen with a 1280 x 768 display. It came with a 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. It had a 2 GB RAM.

The Nexus 4 came with an 8 MP primary camera and a 1.3 MP secondary camera. It came with a Non-removable Li-Po 2100 mAh battery.

So, why is Google pulling out the Nexus 4, even with these descent specs? Analysts feel that the company is making room for the Nexus 5. The new device is expected to be launched by the end of October.

According to analysts it is normal practice for companies to discontinue a product that they feel would eat into the market share of the new product. Apple is reported to have discontinued the iPhone 5 after the launch of the iPhone 5S. Similarly seems to be the fate of Nexus 4.

The Nexus 5 is rumoured to come with some exciting features and upgrades compared to the Nexus 4. Several images of the device have already been leaked to the public. The device joins a long list of products that get leaked before the launch date.

The Nexus 5 is rumoured to come with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system and to be based on the LG G2. The processor is expected to be quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800.

The Nexus 5 is could come in a polycarbonate body. It may not come with the glass back featured in the Nexus 4.
