Latest rumors on the upcoming Nexus 5 indicate the inclusion of a Nikon Camera on the much anticipated smart phone. According to the PhoneArena report, the Nexus 5 smart phone will be equipped with Nikon's "triple camera sensor" technology.

Google and Nikon have already collaborated before on the Nikon Coolpix S800c which features an Android-based firmware. In 2012, Google have acquired the Nik software and Snapseed as well. Nikon's "triple camera sensor" technology on the Nexus 5 will reportedly create an image with higher resolution, superior color rendering and light capture.

In February 2013, Vic Gundotra of Google wrote a message on Google+ saying that "the company is specifically committed to making Nexus phones with insanely great cameras" with an expected high quality camera focus.

Perhaps Google has their eyes fixed on improving the camera and its performance on the next Nexus smart phone after receiving poor camera ratings from reviewers with the Google Nexus 4 camera. The Nexus 4 smart phone ratings were either tolerable or sub-par compared to the iPhone or Android smart phone cameras.

Other Nexus 5 features and specification rumors include a 5-inch screen display with 1080p resolution, a Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM and 8GB or 16GB storage capacities. A 3140mAh battery will reportedly power the Nexus 5 smart phone which should operate longer with the screen display power requirements compared to the Google Nexus 4.

For the Nexus 5 price, consumers are expecting the upcoming Nexus 5 to have a pricing scheme similar to the Google Nexus 4 smart phone which is £239 (US$361). An innovative smart phone featuring the Nikon camera technology with a low price could make rival companies like Samsung and Apple lower the Galaxy S series and iPhones price to remain on top of the smart phone competition in the market.
