Apple iPhone 6: Latest Round-up of Rumors on Features, Specs, Design, Price and Release Date
The Apple iPhone 6 has been surrounded for months with numerous rumours on its features, specifications, design, price and release date. Listed below are the latest round-up of Internet rumours on the upcoming iPhone 6 to see what Apple could offer the device's enthusiasts.
1. Features, Specifications and Hardware. The iPhone 6 will reportedly be incorporated with the new Apple 20nm A7 processor and TSMC is scheduled to begin the production of the A7 chips in Q1 2014.
Other reports claim Apple is mulling over a manufacturing deal with Intel to provide either a brand new processor for the iPhone 6 or simply produce Apple's ARM-based designs. Apple's existing processor deal with Samsung will expire in 2014 and the shift with Intel is a possible attempt to lessen the dependence on its rival company, Samsung.
iPhone 6 is expected to have a new 5G Wi-Fi network, Bluetooth chips, Wireless charging, fingerprint scanner chip, Sharp Corp touch screen display, 13MP camera, NFC capability and available storage capacities of 16GB, 32GB or 64GB with the possibility of a 128GB version as well without the microSD card slot.
Additionally, Apple CEO Tim Cook is reportedly in the middle of talks with the chief executive of Beats Audio for a possible collaborative work on the Apple music streaming service with Spotify or Xbox Music.
2. Design. The iPhone 6 is estimated to have a similar design with the iPhone 5, but other reports suggest a larger smartphone design with a size ranging from 4.2 to 4.6 inches. Apple may even launch a budget iPhone model made of plastic.
Peter Zigich, and independent concept designer, even predicted three models for the iPhone 6 such as the regular iPhone 6, the iPhone 6 mini and the iPhone 6 XL. His concept designs have the Apple home button moved to the side to give more space for a larger screen display.
On the other hand, Apple design guru Jony Ive was assigned to manage the improvement on the iOS interface for a brand new look for Apple's software and digital storefronts.
Apple enthusiasts will be given the option to choose from a variety of colour choices for the iPhone 6 with the signature home button replaced with a capacitive bar capable of performing actions through hand gestures.
3. Price. The iPhone 6 is expected to have a similar price with the iPhone 5. The 16GB version will reportedly cost £529 (US$799) while the 64GB version is worth £699 (US$1055). However, a budget iPhone 6 model could be offered with very the low price tag of £200 (US$302).
Concept designer Peter Zigich also came up with a pricing scheme for the iPhone 6. The regular iPhone 6 will have an approximate price of $650, while the iPhone 6XL is worth $750 up to $900.
4. Release Date. Apple iPhone 6 is expected to be released in mid-2014. Contradicting rumours suggest a June or July 2013 release date in-line with the previous Apple launches while other reports point to the October 2013 iPhone 6 release date.
However, these speculations will remain blurred until the California-based technology giant officially unveils the much anticipated next-generation iPhone.
