Asus unexpectedly revealed the MemoPad HD7 Android tablet at the 2013 Computex held this week looking like the identical twin of Nexus 7. However, the new Asus tablet offers remarkable features, specs and a more affordable price making it another competitor of the Google tablet.

The Asus MemoPad HD7 boasts with a 7-inch HD touch screen with a 5MP rear-facing camera and the availability of microSD card slots for memory storage expansion. Asus will also be offering the MemoPad HD7 with a range of color choices which is currently appealing to the device consumers.

Other features and specs of the Asus tablet include a quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU and an IPS screen display with 1280x800p resolution. The tablet has a 1.2MP front-facing camera similar to the Google Nexus 7 that has the ability to capture images or videos at 720p resolution.

Furthermore, MemoPad HD7 has a thinner and lighter design compared to the Nexus 7 with its smaller bezel surrounding the tablet screen. The Nexus 7, on the other hand, is packed with the 1.2GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 CPU processor, 1GB of RAM, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update and the available internal storage capacity of 16GB or 32GB but without the microSD card slot.

The Google tablet has support for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi connection and NFC with the power of a non-removable Li-Ion 4325mAh battery that allows talk time of up to 10 hours. With regards to pricing, the Asus MemoPad HD7 will be released with a suggested retail price of $149 for the 16GB model while the 8GB model will have a price of only $129 against the $200 Google Nexus 7 tablet.

According to Asus, the 8GB and 16GB MemoPad HD7 tablet models will be available for purchasing on the market this coming July.
