The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to trade for Mike Wallace and within days in the 2015 offseason of the National Football League, or NFL, have released own free agent Greg Jennings. Both play the wide receiver position and the WR change comes in Minnesota after a disappointing stint by Jennings the past two seasons with the team.

ESPN reports that the Vikings tried to retain Jennings on a restructured deal but both sides failed to agree on a contract. Wallace joined the Vikings after a stint with the Miami Dolphins the last two seasons. The Dolphins received a fifth round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft for Wallace and a seventh round pick also in the next league draft in the exchange. The Vikings had high hopes that Jennings will be a key player for their squad when they signed him in 2013.

Jennings played for the Green Bay Packers from 2000 to 20006 and registered a 900-plus receiving yards and a 1,100-plus receiving yards in three of seven seasons with the Packers. Jennings failed to eclipse the 900-plus receiving yards in two seasons in Minnesota, registering 804 receiving yards on 68 receptions with four touchdowns in 2013 and 742 receiving yards on 59 receptions with six touchdowns in 2014.

"Yeah, I'm excited. That's not really true, because I didn't even tell anybody that. I don't know where that kind of came from. A lot of people always put words in my mouth,” Wallace said to ESPN after initial reports surfaced that he did not like the trade to Minnesota. “Nobody ever heard me say that. I don't have any problems with being here. I'm excited for a fresh start."

Wallace is coming off a similar season with the Dolphins. He had 930 receiving yards on 73 catches with 5 touchdowns in 2013 and 862 receiving yards on 67 catches with 10 touchdowns in 2014. Wallace led the Dolphins in receiving yards and touchdowns in the 2014 season.
