A sucker punch by John Scott of the San Jose Sharks on Tim Jackman of the Anaheim Ducks will cost the former $34,146.36 as the National Hockey League (NHL) decided to suspend him for a total of four games without pay for his actions.

“San Jose Sharks forward John Scott has been suspended for four games, without pay, for punching an unsuspecting opponent and causing an injury (Rule 46.15) to Anaheim Ducks forward Tim Jackman during NHL Game No. 501 in Anaheim on Monday, Dec. 22, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety,” the NHL stated in an official press release on Wednesday. This is not the first time the Scott has been involved in dirty plays and the league considers him to be a “repeat offender.” Just last October, he was also suspended for two games for fighting Jackman in another Sharks vs. Ducks game.

The incident happened at the 8:18 mark of the second period of Sharks vs. Ducks game the last Monday. The unsuspecting Jackman collapsed to the ice and Scott did not receive a penalty at that time. Scott’s monetary penalty will go to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
