Nikolaj Coster-Waldau: 'Game of Thrones' Fans Mob Actor In Spain, HBO Series Filming Season 5 In Alcázar Palace
"Game of Thrones" Season 5 filming is currently underway in Spain with actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as one of the cast members present in the location which is the 15th century Alcázar palace. The latest reports surrounding the 44-year-old Danish actor reveal that several fans have been mobbing the star of the hit HBO TV series.
According to an Entertainment Weekly report, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was mobbed by fans a couple of weeks ago while sitting down for an interview in a Seville hotel. Groups of female fans found out where the interview is being conducted so they swarmed the place take pictures of the actor through the window.
The report further revealed that a hotel server closed the drapes to give the actor some privacy while conducting the interview. Piluca Querol, the local production company director revealed that the fans are really excited and the female ones try to kiss the "Game of Thrones" actor.
"[Fans have] become more intense in Belfast for the first time too, but it's nothing like Spain. They're really sweet, but some are like, 'I've been looking for you for two days!'" Coster-Waldau shared. The actor, who portrays "Game of Thrones" character Jaime Lannister, stressed that he really appreciates the attention he receives but he is not used to getting that much.
Meanwhile, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was able to squeeze in jogging time in his busy filming schedule in Seville, Spain. The actor was spotted and photographed during his break from filming "Game of Thrones" Season 5 scenes on Sunday, Oct. 19. Click HERE to see photos.
A Highlight Hollywood report revealed that extra security from the local police in Spain becomes necessary when Nikolaj Coster-Waldau steps out to film his scenes on the streets. An unnamed source revealed that the actor handles the female fans by smiling and signing autographs.
The filming locations in the previous seasons of "Game of Thrones" include Northern Ireland, Croatia and Iceland. In the upcoming new season, the production team has added Spain with the Alcázar palace as the location for House Martell, the southern town of Osuna and the city of Seville provides the filming locations for the Westeros land of Dorne.
"Game of Thrones" Season 5 is expected to return to HBO in spring 2015.
