Ian Somerhalder gave ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev an admiring comment via Twitter and the "Vampire Diaries" actress responded to the "stunning" compliment. This simple social media interaction between the former lovers made the Delena or Nian fans excited and ignited speculations that they could be ready for a reunion to give their romantic relationship another try.

Nina Dobrev, 24, sent a simple "Thank you" message to Ian Somerhalder after posting her Cosmopolitan magazine cover and describing her as stunning. The actress wrote "Thank You Smouldy" in her Twitter account @ninadobrev in response to Ian's tweet that reads: "In a store this morning-who do I see?The one&only @ninadobrev These things are almost gone so If you haven't gotten this magazine off of a shelf-get one. One word: Stunning... Congrats Nina! Xo Ian."

Though Ian and Nina's relationship has ended, the two remained good friends and still professionally work together as onscreen couple Damon and Elena in "The Vampire Diaries." However, it has not stopped rumours about the two getting back together with numerous TVD fans begging as well that they should reunite again in real life.

At the moment, Ian and Nina are just focusing with work for the upcoming new season of their hit TV series "The Vampire Diaries." Fans are currently excited for the Season 5 premiere to see what will happen next with the new onscreen couple after Elena professed her love for Damon and chose him instead of Stefan.

The Delena love story will appear to run smooth in the early episodes of Season 5 until issues sink in between Damon and Elena. According to the Enstarz report, Nina's character Elena may begin to have second thoughts with her choice.

Ms Dobrev recently divulged to TVGuide that her character still has to deal with the complication of her love for the Salvatore brothers. "She knows she's in love with Damon, but she still cares for Stefan and wants to make sure he's OK and when she finds out what he's been through, it's not easy for her," the actress shared.

Viewers will find out if Elena will stick with Damon or return to Stefan when "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 premieres on Thursday, October 3,on the CW television network.
