No 'Great Kate Wait' 2: Media Not Allowed To Camp Out To Await Kate Middleton's Delivery Of Second Royal Baby
The Kensington Palance and Lindo Wing of London’s St. Mary Hospital do not want a repeat of the “Great Kate Wait” that took place nearly two years ago, with the birth of Prince George. Restrictions have been put into place to make sure that global media circus would be contained with regard the arrival of the second royal baby and that the event would not become a circus.
"It's clear Kensington Palace and the Lindo Wing don't want a repeat of the "Great Kate Wait" of 21 months ago," Ben O'Hara-Byrne, London correspondent for Canada's CTV News, shares to The Hollywood Reporter. Prince George’s birth back on July 22, 2013 led to a massive media circus in London. As the world gears for the arrival of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s second child, which is due anytime soon, media build-up can be observed to be less intense. This is not because the media or the world is less interested on the second baby. While the interest is still raging, restrictions have been put up against the media so that they would not go crazy like last time, even camping out at the Lindo Wing. Barriers for camera crews have already been set up and media teams’ spots have already been marked to make sure that when the big day comes, the flurry of media activities would not lead to chaos. Members of the worldwide media pack however, would only be allowed to take their spots when they have been alerted.
Unlike what they did on Prince George’s arrival -- camping out for weeks, this time the media cannot descend on the hospital until the duchess is safely inside to deliver her baby. "We'll be notified by email and on Twitter when she goes into hospital and then we'll have to get there as fast as we can,” O’Hara-Bryne explained.
Meanwhile, a new report claimed that even though the baby is taking sweet time into coming into this world, Kate Middleton is relaxed and happy. US magazine said the Duchess is in good spirits ahead of her impending delivery of the second royal baby.
