Apple will not compete in the phablet arena this year, a new report said, which means the much-speculated 4.8-inch iPhone 6 will see its release date next year, likely on June 2014.

Coming from his recent Asian tour of supply manufacturers, Jeffries analyst Peter Misek now believe that the rumoured iPhone 6 is for real but Apple will not let it out this year, basing on information provided by known iPhone suppliers.

The iPhone editions consumers should expect this year is the iPhone 5S and the so-called budget iPhone. These two handsets should become available during the current year's holiday quarter, Mr Misek said.

"After our Asia trip we now think the low-cost iPhone launch could be pushed to CQ4 and have increased confidence that the iPhone 6 will not launch until CY14," the analyst told StreetInsider in an interview.

The new outlook did not provide reasons for the pushback but it is understood that production and component issues are the main consideration for Apple to delay the iPhone 6 outing, which some analysts said will rollout in late 2013.

Among the main cause for delay is the choice of screen technology that Apple engineers would want to deploy with the large-screen iPhone, which could be a fusion of Retina and IGZO display, the latter to be supplied by Japanese firm Sharp.

One side note about IGZO is its apparent inclusion to the Galaxy Note 3 production scene. The display technology, blog reports said, is listed by Samsung as a top-choice due to its sensitive screen that would work best for the Note 3's S-Pen stylus.

It doesn't mean. However, that Apple is mulling a stylus addition to the iPhone 6. It should be noted that the late Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, had famously dismissed the device tool as something consumers do not need.

Regardless, the iPhone 6 is considered as representative of Apple's radical device revisions. First, the tech giant will dump its resolve of sticking to the 4-inch screen size as earlier stressed by current CEO Tim Cook.

Second, the rumoured Apple phablet could see the retirement of the tech titan's iconic Home button. Numerous iPhone 6 renders have shown that its profile will boasts of a bezel-free form on four edges, thus eliminating the need for a capacitive key on the phone's front portion.

The iPhone 6 is also widely believed to carry the A7 64-bit computing technology plus a more advanced iOS 7 that is set for release later this year.
