At IFA 2014, Microsoft announced a slew of devices starting with Nokia Lumia 730, Lumia 735 and Lumia 830. However, the difference between the Lumia 730 and the Lumia 735 is that, the former is a dual-SIM variant and supports 3G, while the latter comes with 4G LTE support.

The magnanimous focus of the 730 series of phones is the ubiquitous "selfies." Apparently, these Lumia devices can enhance, alter and improve the selfies. This is achieved by the front-facing snapper that comes bundled with wide-angle lens. This lens helps in getting picture-perfect selfies aided by a 5 MP camera as the secondary unit, according to Phone Arena.

Even though the Lumia 730 and the Lumia 735 are budget-friendly phones, the front-facing shooter housed in these devices give high-end smartphones a run for their money. During the IFA event, Microsoft/Nokia did compare their phones to Samsung and Apple's flagship devices. Apparently, the company representatives recalled the now-famous Ellen DeGeneres selfie taken unanimously at the Oscar event. And remarked that the same selfie would have been much better had they used the technology employed in Lumia 730.

Staying true to the name selfie phone, the Nokia Lumia 730 comes with a unique selfie app pre-installed on the device. This can be used to alter and tweak the captured selfies by virtually adding effects, brightness and filters. As Phone Arena puts it, the app can also be used to enhance a particular part of the image like whitening the teeth.

The key specifications of the Lumia 730 include a 4.7-Inch ClearBlack display complemented by 720 x 1,280 pixels screen resolution and 312 ppi pixel density. The phone runs on a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400) Cortex-A7 processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz and Adreno 305 for graphics. Moreover, it runs on the latest Windows Phone 8.1 OS along with 1 GB of RAM.

Apart from the secondary camera specs mentioned above, there is also a 6.7 MP rear-facing camera unit. Speaking of memory, the phone comes equipped with 8 GB of internal storage capacity and microSD card support for expansion up to 128 GB. Apart from the standard connectivity options, the Lumia handset also supports NFC. Also, it is backed by a Li-Ion 2,200 mAh Battery unit. Potential buyers can expect the device in bright orange, green, white and black colours.

Furthermore, the Nokia Lumia 730 (Dual-SIM) is priced at €199 that roughly translates to US$257, AU$275 and £157. The Lumia 735 (4G LTE), on the other hand, will come with a price tag of €219 that translates to US$283, AU$302 and £173. Upon purchasing the device, Microsoft will offer free Skype unlimited subscription for three months.
