While Nokia Australia confirmed that no Pureview 808 will be heading on the land down under, two Windows Phones are on their way to invade the Sydney Shores.

Nokia Lumia 900 and Lumia 610 are making their debut on Sydney next week. Nokia Australia will hold a media preview event next Thursday evening. This will surely be followed by an Australian release of the devices.

Nokia Lumia 900 may be the Windows Phone that Aussies are waiting for. It is cheaper, bigger and faster compared to its predecessor. If its 4G capability is supported by the 4G network in Australia, it may hold a strong competition against Telstra's HTC Titan II 4G.

The Finnish company has a legacy of excellent hardware. The company used to make some truly terrific phones and once claimed the fame of being the top-selling phone manufacturer. Simple and nearly indestructible, these mobile candy bars set lasting standards. They were lovely, square and ubiquitous. Today, they are endangered.

The Lumia 900 has a 4.3-inch AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass, 8MP camera, 1.4GHz processor, 512MB RAM/ROM, 16GB memory and built-in FM radio.

The Lumia 610, on the other hand, has a 3.7-inch display and looks more like the budget-friendly Lumia 710 than the Lumia 800 or 900. The main point of difference will likely be its NFC feature - the first Windows Phone with the near-field communications. The device was unveiled in the recent Mobile World Congress.

Nokia is known for using different colors on its products. The devices are available in playful and cheerful colors. There is no word yet on which carriers will be offering these handsets.
