Hardware manufacturer Asus just launched its latest device - Asus PadFone 2. It is expected to battle head on other smartphones such as Nokia's Lumia 920.

After gaining recognition from making Google's latest tablet, Asus is a competitor to watch out for. It is expected that the new hybrid device of the company boasts a larger 4.7-inch screen with a 1280 x 720 pixel display and also upgrades its processor to a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm. There is also 1GB of RAM and 13MP camera. It is also believed that the device will have Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The Finnish mobile manufacturer Nokia countered this move and also introduced its prime smartphone in the market early this September. Nokia showed off its Lumia 920 powered by the new Windows Phone 8 operating system.

Some of the smartphone's specs and features include PureMotion HD+ 4.5 inch display (1280 x 768 resolution), Dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, NFC chip, 2,000mAh battery, and Qi wireless charging. Nokia is touting the Lumia 920′s premier feature as its new camera lens.

Nokia Lumia 920 is the "make or break" device for Nokia. If the device does not do wonders in the market, is it time for Nokia to throw the towel?

The aforementioned devices bridge the gap between tablet and smartphone. Below is the comparison of the two devices.

Design - Nokia Lumia 920 boasts colorful case and tiles. Meanwhile, Asus built on its successes with the Transformer tablets, which became laptops with the addition of a dock, by instead using a phone as the base device which could then dock with a tablet and then a keyboard. It also supported stylus input and allowed calls to be taken via a Bluetooth handset built into the pen.

Screen Display - Nokia Lumia 920 has 4.5 inch screen display. The phone handset itself has a 4.7-inch screen display with a 1280x720 pixel resolution. However, the display of the tablet is 10.1 inch and 1280x800 pixel resolution.

Storage - Nokia Lumia 920 is available in 32GB with 7GB SkyDrive storage. Asus PadFone 2 has the same setup of internal storage but with a MicroSD slot up to 32GB.

Processor - Nokia Lumia 920 is powered by dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor. The ASUS Padfone 2 is powered by Qualcomm's S4 (Series 4) Pro quad core processor clocked at 1.5GHz.

Operating System - Nokia Lumia 920 is running with Windows Phone 8, which is also a new version of the company's mobile software and promises greater experience. However, the new Asus PadFone 2 comes with the Android Ice Cream Sandwich, which is upgradable to Jelly Bean.

Camera - Nokia Lumia 920's 8MP rear camera may not stand a chance with Asus PadFone 2 13MP shooter.

There is no word yet on when the Asus PadFone 2 will be released. The Nokia Lumia 920 is reported to arrive in Australia on November 5 and will be available at Telstra.
