A few years ago, Nokia was the top mobile phone with users comparing one Nokia model with another handset from the same Finnish company. Nokia attempts to recapture its glory, lost to Apple and Samsung mainly, by launching its Lumia series.

Nokia globally launched earlier in the early part of 2012 the Lumia 800 which is a Windows 7.5-based smartphone and is now offering price cuts in certain markets like India based from an online shopping site.

Another smartphone from Nokia as well has been rolled out called the Nokia Lumia 920, a Windows 8-based device that features PureView technology.

Operating System

Both Lumia devices are running Windows Phone OS but have different version inside. Lumia 800 runs Windows 7.5 Mango which has basic technology of a smartphone from social network and multimedia and SkyDrive access as well. Lumia 920 runs Windows 8 which allows special integration among Windows 8 devices exclusively.

Processor and Memory

Nokia Lumia 920 and 800 both possess Qualcomm Snapdragon processor but the significant difference is how many cores they have. Lumia 800 has only single-core while Lumia 920 has dual core, giving much obvious speed and performance. When it comes to GPU, Lumia 800 has Adreno 205 and Lumia 920 has Adreno 225.

To compare their virtual memory, Lumia 920 surely offers improvement with its 1GB of RAM which supersedes the 512MB RAM of Lumia 800.

Size and Weight

Lumia 920's dimensions are 130.3x70.8x10.7mm and weighs 185g while Lumia 800 has 116.5x61.2x12.1mm which makes it larger but weighs lighter at 142g only. In percentage, Lumia 800 is much lighter and making it easier to hold without tiring the user's arms. But Lumia 920 is 11 per cent slimmer than Lumia 800, which makes it easier to carry in pocket and is more fashionable.

Display and Screen Size

Lumia 920 is slightly heavier than Lumia 800 because of its screen size. Lumia 920 has 4.5 inches of screen size with 768x1280 of resolution (332ppi density) while Nokia 800 has 3.5 inches of screen size with 480x800 resolution(252ppi density), making the screen 21 per cent bigger and around 156 per cent more pixels than Lumia 800

Lumia 920's display type is IPS TFT capacitive touchscreen while Lumia 800 has AMOLED capacitive touchscreen.

Camera and Multimedia

Both devices has 8MP rear facing camera with 3264x2448 resolution and uses Carl Zeiss optics. But Nokia 920 has PureView technology which maximises the real capacity and crisp image capture of its lens and megapixel rate. Not only that, Nokia 920 has a secondary front facing camera with 1.3MP that allows the user to make video calls and capture photos up front.

For videos, both devices records but with different frames per second(fps). Lumia 920 can achieve 1080p@30fps while Lumia 800 can perform 720p@30fps.

For multimedia, both devices can play various audio and video codec but for radio lovers, Lumia 920 does not have this function, instead it supports DLNA for easy sharing of music, photos, and videos over Wi-Fi with DLNA TV ready devices.

Storage Capacity

The audio and video had been differentiated but for the storage capacity the two both have their limits. Lumia 920 can hold up to 32GB internally of data while Lumia 800 is limited to only 16GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, these devices are not ready for any expansion using memory cards.

Download and Streams

Lumia 920 and Lumia 800 may play several audio and video codecs with storage multimedia files, but in streaming, the Lumia 920 is around 193 per cent faster to download these data than Lumia 800. An example of this Internet speed improvement is between their HSDPA speed. Lumia 920 has 42.2Mbps while Lumia 800 has 14.4 Mbps as max. In addition, Lumia 920 can share its mobile connection via Wi-Fi Hotspot.

The Battery Life

Definitely Lumia 920 offers a clear advantage in this one for having 400 hours of standby time and 1,020 minutes of talk time compared to the 265 hours of standby and 570 minutes talk time of Lumia 800.
