HTC First features specs that are nowhere near the HTC One and HTC Butterfly levels. But it's the first Android phone dedicated to the recently announced Facebook Home suite. Early reports indicate the First can only be bought with carrier contracts. The good news is sleuthing Android experts have found a way to make Facebook Home available in Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 devices.

HTC First Specs, Users Expect to Switch to Stock Android

HTC First reviews point out that the handset is not meant to boast of a robust system for heavy media consumption. True to its name, HTC's new handset is the 'First' Android Facebook Home handset.

The Verge took a hands-on, first-impressions look on the HTC First, and its review said, "our hands-on time with the First left us optimistic that it's capable of providing users with a smooth experience."

HTC First sports a humble 720p 4.3-inch glass display. The screen size is fine, but the resolution falls behind the sharpness of 1080p screens. There is also a step back concerning the processor, which is a dual-core Snapdragon 400 clocking at 1.4GHz. However, there is hope for the First's a 5MP rear-facing camera with an f/2.0, 28mm lens. Some low-to-mid-end point and shoot cameras don't go this far in lens opening. Perhaps HTC invested on lens specs to lure in mobile photographers. Still, it could have gone a bit farther in megapixel.

Meanwhile, those who have decided to skip the HTC First may experience the Facebook Home on their Nexus 4 or Nexus 7 devices. Android experts at MoDaCo found an early version of Facebook Home and shared it via Mega cloud storage. Venturebeat.com reported the leaked tool "actually works just fine on Google's Nexus 4 smartphone and Nexus 7 tablet."

The process of trying out Facebook Home on your Nexus device would require that you uninstall any other Facebook apps. Following the steps would take at least five minutes. Of course you'd do this only if you're super curious about the much hyped Facebook Home.
