Oklahoma Help Line: Ellen DeGeneres, Jennifer Aniston Lead Celebrities Sending Support to Oklahoma Victims
Celebrities are busy fashionable people with their own controversies and issues to deal with.
It's like they have their own glimmering world out there.
It is really touching to know that in time of disaster and grieving, celebrities do know how to "come down" from their world and do their roles to help.
Ellen DeGeneres, whom we all enjoyed her being witty and hilarious at times, opened her show with a very emotional speech.
"I take all that love and today I give it to everybody in Oklahoma. Before Is tart, I just wanna say that our thoughts and prayers are with everyone there. But I assume if you're watching, you wanna take a break from the news and laugh for alittle while. So that's what we're gonna do and that's what we try and do every day. But right now, we wanted to send our love to all of the victims of the devastating tornadoes that have affected Texas and Oklahoma. The images are heartbreaking, and we want everyone there to know that we're thinking of you."
Jennifer Aniston, who acted as Ellen's co-host for the episode said that more than anything else, it is important for everyone to help all the people affected by the natural calamity. "It is important to do whatever you can to help... you can text the words 'Red Cross' to 90999 and $10 will go to the American red Cross. Go to the website for more information."
More celebrities expressed their support and encourage their fans to do the same.
In the Tuesday episode of "The Voice" judge Blake Sheldon, together with wife Miranda Lambert opened the show through a heartfelt performance of the acoustic rendition of "Over You". As the couple sings the song that they co-wrote, The Red Cross donation information is flashing on the screen. The couple wrote the song for Blake's older brother who died when he was just in his teens.
Blake explains that the song was the perfect song for the heartbreaking situation. "The moment was right. I wish things could have been different. I wouldn't have thought about performing a song like that, but it seemed like the right thing to do."
After his performance, he informed the public that he and NBS is organizing a benefit concert for the Oklahoma victims. "We'll know more about it in the next 24 hours. I'm hoping it will raise a lot of money. Obviously, it will be televised and will happen really quickly."
He added that he can call other celebrities and ask for support for the benefit concert. Some celebrities predicted to perform in the concert are, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Shakira and Usher. Also Mirand Lambert's friends, Kelly Clarkson and Sheryl Crow, would likely grace the concert.
Oklahoma holds a soft spot in the heart of Blake as he grew up just 75 miles south of where the tornado hit. At present, the couple lives just about 100 miles away from Moore.
