“Once Upon A Time” Season 4, episode 20 (“Sympathy for the De Vil”) aired Sunday, April 19, on ABC. Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) gives in to darkness in this weekend’s new episode. In the next episode (“Lily”), Emma meets the grown-up Lily (Agnes Bruckner), who finds her way to Storybrooke.

“Once Upon A Time” Season 4, episode 20 reveals that the Author aka Isaac (Patrick Fischler) and Cruella De Vil (Victoria Smurfit) met in England in the 1920s. Isaac fell for the young Cruella (Milli Wilkinson), but he quickly discovered she killed her parents. The Author then made it sure that Cruella would never be able to kill anyone again.

Cruella needs to kill the Author to cancel his written word. She kidnaps Henry as a leverage for blackmail. The Saviour/Emma and the former Evil Queen/Regina (Lana Parrilla) should kill the Author for her. Rumplestiltskin/Gold (Robert Carlyle) learns about Cruella’s inability to kill, and it makes him smile.

Snow White/Mary Margaret (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming/David (Josh Dallas) find out in “Once Upon A Time” Season 4, episode 20 that their daughter Emma is going after a villain who couldn’t kill Henry (Jared S. Gilmore). They try to stop her, but Emma quickly kills Cruella to protect Henry.

“Once Upon A Time” Season 4, episode 20 will be marked in the OUAT history as the episode in which Emma Swan makes her first kill. The horrified reaction of Snow White and Prince Charming end the episode.

The ABC TV spot for the next episode features Lily (Agnes Bruckner) in a fight with Emma. Lily tells Emma’s parents must suffer, and Emma resists. “Once Upon A Time” Season 4, episode 21 is expected to focus on Lily and Emma’s confrontation.

In the beginning of “Once Upon A Time” Season 4, episode 19, Regina gets ready to go to New York to help Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) and finish Zelena (Rebecca Mader). First, Regina meets up with Belle (Emilie de Ravin) to have some leverage on Rumple – her heart.

Regina then learns that there is only very little left in Rumple’s heart. Soon, he will be unable to love, and “in a manner of speaking,” he dies. This plot continues in the next episode(s). “Once Upon A Time” earlier revealed a seer’s prophecy on Henry Mills. Henry was divined to be Rumple’s “undoing.” It remains to be seen whether Henry would play a part in the healing of Rumplestiltskin’s heart.
