'Once Upon A Time' Season 6 spoilers: Return of the Dark One storyline

The Dark One storyline isn’t finished yet, and will return in “Once Upon A Time” Season 6. The main theme this year is split personality, and Emma will have to confront her dark past. A new promo of the TV series released online teases some of the scenes from the next season.

A new promo video of the next season posted on YouTube shows Emma (Jennifer Morrison) facing off against a tall hooded figure. Emma had previously taken on the role of the Dark One, before Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle) took all the power for himself.

Writer and Executive Producer Adam Horowitz had previously confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that there could be some lingering effects for Emma or Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) after being the Dark One. The producer said that this dark past isn’t something the heroes can just “shake off.”

The main villain in “Once Upon A Time” Season 6 is Mr. Hyde (Sam Witwer). However, there is also the storyline of the return of the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla), as she prepares to take on Regina. That confrontation will happen in the premiere episode itself, when the heroes go out to investigate a strange crash site of an airship.

The other big storyline on the show this year is that of new characters Aladdin (Deniz Akdeniz), Jasmine (Karen David) and Jafar (Oded Fehr). The promo video teases some of the scenes involving these new characters.

The characters from the desert kingdom of Agrabah will be introduced in the premiere episode. Aladdin has been revealed to be someone who had the title “Savior,” but an event forced him to go to the Land of Untold Stories to put his life on pause.

With all the characters from The Land of Untold Stories coming to Storybrooke in “Once Upon A Time” Season 6, their stories are no longer on pause. The show will now return to the smaller arcs format of the first season, with the heroes attempting to help their new guests.
