The co-founder of OnePlus, Carl Pei has revealed that the OnePlus 3 release date will be set in at the end of the second quarter of this year. It is expected to arrive with a new design to replace the OnePlus 2 smartphone from last year.

Since Pei stated the OnePlus 3 will be coming at the end of second quarter, tech sites have reported that OnePlus 3 release date will be set in June. Even though more units of OnePlus 2 were sold than that of OnePlus One, the latter was more captivating than last year’s mode.

Hence, Pei added that the OnePlus 3 would be arriving with a new captivating design that and it will appear different from the predecessor smartphones, OnePlus 2 and OnePlus One. The aforementioned details were revealed by Pei during an interview with CNet.

Just like predecessor OnePlus smartphones, the OnePlus 3 will be available unlocked in the U.S. and other markets of the world. Pei refrained from revealing any information on the features of OnePlus 3. Phone Arena has claimed that the OnePlus 3 would cost around $350 (AU$488) like the OnePlus 2 smartphone.

Pei added that U.S. is a significant market for OnePlus and it will be adopting more conventional marketing methods to sell the OnePlus 3 smartphone in this year. The unconventional invitation-only program for selling OnePlus smartphones has been criticized heavily by tech experts and users. Hence, the company may sell the OnePlus 3 without using the invitation-only system.

According to rumours, the OnePlus 3 will be arriving with a full HD display of 5.5 inches. The Snapdragon 820 chipset and 4 GB of RAM will be present under its hood. It will come in two storage options of 16 GB and 64 GB. It is expected to house 13 MP rear and 5 MP front cameras. It will be powered by 3500 mAh battery.
