This year, Google is expected to launch 2016 Nexus 6 with split screen technology like the Apple iPad Pro. Here we have tried to compare OnePlus 2, the ‘2016 Flagship killer’ to one of the most coveted flagship devices launch of 2014, the Motorola Nexus 6.

Display - Nexus 6 has a better display but heavier than OnePlus 2

The Nexus 6 features a giant 5.96-inch display as compared to the 5.5-inch display of the OnePlus 2. The Nexus 6 sports a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, which results in a pixel density of 493ppi (pixels per inch).

On the other hand, the OnePlus 2 has a 1920 x 1080 resolution screen at 401(ppi) pixels per inch. However, the device sports an Ambient light display which adjusts the screen according to the surrounding brightness.

The Nexus 6 is physically larger but heavier than the OnePlus 2. The former weighs 184 grams whereas the OnePlus 2 is only 175 grams. Furthermore, OnePlus 2 comes with customisable back covers which include colors like kevlar, bamboo, rosewood, and black apricot.

Hardware – OnePlus 2 has a better configuration

Motorola-made Nexus 6 is powered by Snapdragon 805 processor with 2.7GHz quad-core CPU coupled with 3GB of RAM. It comes in 32GB and 64GB storage options.

On the other hand, the comparatively new OnePlus 2 runs on 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC clocking in at 1.8 GHz . The phone offers two configurations – 3GB/16GB storage and 4GB/64GB native storage.

Camera - OnePlus 2 wins in this department

Both the phablets have 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with optical image stabilisation. But the OnePlus 2 has a good 5MP front-facing camera unit as compared to 2MP of Nexus 6. Moreover, the main camera in the OnePlus 2 can also capture 720p slo-mo video at up to 120 frames per second. The device features a new low-light sensor for better low light photography, reports Know Your Mobile.

Battery and other features

The OnePlus 2 sports a 3,300 mAh battery to juice up the device. The Nexus 6 comes packed with a marginally smaller 3,220 mAh battery capacity but also boosts wireless charging. Moreover, the smartphone touts a fingerprint scanner which the Nexus 6 lacks. Both the devices are compatible with NFC.

Price and availability

Google Store has removed the Nexus 6 from its official page but customers can still purchase the device from major e-commerce websites. Best Buy sells Motorola Nexus 6 (Sprint) at US$199.99 (AU$282) with a 2 year contract.

According to PC Advisor, OnePlus 2 was launched an invite system to place order for the smartphone. Now, Geekbuying is selling the 4GB/64GB Sandstone Black model at 27 percent discounted price of US$395 (AU$557). The deal ends in 3 days from now.
