'The Originals' Episode 21 'The Battle of New Orleans' Recap/Spoilers: The Real Enemy Appears, Who is She?
The penultimate episode of "The Originals" finally showed the intense face-off between Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Marcel (Charles Michael Davis). However, the real enemy revealed herself and it resulted to the failure of what Klaus and Marcel planned.
Spoiler alert: This feature contains major spoilers on "The Originals" Episode 21 titled "The Battle of New Orleans." Marcel compelled some police officers to stop Jackson (Nathan Parsons) and Oliver's (Chase Coleman) trip and capture the werewolves.
Josh (Steven Krueger) enjoys spending time under the sun with Davina (Danielle Campbell) at the park, thanks to his new daylight ring. However, Davina knows something bad is coming up so she told her good friend Josh to leave before getting caught up in the upcoming big war between Marcel and Klaus.
Genevieve (Elyse Levesque) figured out Klaus' plan which is to build an army of werewolves. Klaus assured the red-haired witch that she will no longer fear anyone if she grants the favor he asks of and further offered his mother's grimoire as a gift in exchange for her loyalty.
Cami (Leah Pipes) deciphered the code she found in Sean's (Matt Kabus) burial place with the use of Father Kieran's (Todd Stashwick) key and it revealed an apartment address. Francesca (Peta Sergeant) arrived and told Cami that she wants to get Father Kieran's key since she is now the new leader of the human faction.
Marcel and Diego (Eka Darville) tortured Jackson and Oliver to find out what Klaus is up to. Meanwhile, Klaus sensed that Marcel has captured Jackson and Oliver so he decided to track Marcel down by biting Josh and bringing him to Davina so she could tell him where Marcel is.
Cami arrived at the apartment and found a secret closet with a box labeled "For Cami." Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Klaus arrived at Marcel's warehouse and found Jackson still tied but this time the room is filled with explosives.
Klaus found Marcel's note and it reads "This is for Thierry" before the warehouse exploded. Klaus and Elijah were quick to snatch Jackson to safety.
With the stones gone, Klaus put his backup plan in motion. The Original hybrid had a business deal with Francesca and she brought the stones to the French Quarters to complete the ingredients that Genevieve need in performing the spell for the moonlight stones.
Marcel prepared his vampire followers with their plan of attack which is to head to Klaus' home, kill their witch and destroy the spell book. Marcel revealed that he wants Klaus to come after him and the epic battle between the two began while Elijah fought Marcel's minions.
Cami found out from the files that the Guerrera werewolves, the family line that Marcel thought he wiped out in the past, still exist in the French Quarter. She tried to warn Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) about it but it was too late.
It turns out Francesca Correa is not human at all but a Guerrera werewolf and she made a side deal with Genevieve. After Genevieve completed the spell on the stones, Francesca took them in exchange for the pregnant werewolf and declared that she will take back her town.
It was further revealed that Francesca was behind the explosion at the bayou. She made an alliance with Oliver and promised to give him a moonlight stone.
To make things worse, Genevieve linked the power in the stones to Klaus' blood when he offered it as the final ingredient to the spell. Klaus felt the effect after he bit Marcel's neck. Genevieve explained that whenever werewolves use their power that will prevent them from turning, they will be using up Klaus' strength and cause him pain.
The witches obviously want to harm the baby making Hayley, who is already in labor, scream for her life and the life of her child. Klaus was already upset because his plan failed but hearing Hayley's screams made him really angry so he let out one loud scream indicating that he will seek revenge on his enemies.
"The Originals" will return on Tuesday night, May 13, at 8 pm ET on the CW Network with Episode 22 titled "From a Cradle to the Grave."
