[Spoiler Alert: The article contains spoilers from the upcoming and previous season of "Orphan Black," read at your own risk.]

There was much speculation surrounding Rachel Duncan, whether she is dead or alive after she got a pencil stuck in her eye. It has now been confirmed that Sarah’s sister clone who worked for Dyad Institute is alive and will be seen in “Orphan Black” Season 3.

"We should not be counting Rachel down and out," Graeme Manson, executive producer of “Orphan Black,” said to TVGuide.com. She is alive but the pencil may have caused some damage to her brain, and how much damage depends on how deep the pencil went.

Manson said how deep the pencil went will decide Rachel’s fate. In “Orphan Black” Season 2, Rachel, who belonged to the pro-clone group, played the role of one of the main antagonists. She kidnapped Kira from hospital and forced Sarah to surrender. Rachel wanted Sarah’s ovary removed. Before the doctor could perform oophorectomy on her, Sarah used a modified fire extinguisher to shoot a pencil into Rachel’s eye and escaped from the operating room.

The pencil may alter Rachel’s personality and according to TV Guide, she will be “at mercy of those who know of her injury.” Manson told TV Guide that the poised, cold Rachel, who always wore a “heavy, hard mask,” will be seen in a position where she is less than what she has been before.

If “Orphan Black” Season 2 was about Rachel and Sarah’s war, the upcoming new season is going to see the battle between Leda’s female clones and Castor’s male clones. The Season 2 finale opened the male clone storyline when it introduced the Scarface Rudy and revealed that Prolethean Mark is a clone, too.

The male clones are self-aware and have been raised as a wolf pack. They will be seen targeting Sarah and her sisters because they have something that they want. Also, it has been revealed that Sarah may have just discovered the existence of male clones, the latter, however, have a lot of information on her and her family.

"Orphan Black" Season 3 is scheduled to premiere on April 18 on BBC America. It will also air simultaneously on all AMC Networks, according to media reports.
