During the episode, which included a lot of flashbacks to the plot of the first season, M.K. contacted Beth late at night to inform her about two EMTs who secretly buried a body in the woods. M.K. warned Beth that the murder is linked to Neolution.
Entertainment Weekly reveals that Beth began to look for more leads at Club Neolution and met Olivier Duval (David Richmond-Peck) and Dr. Leekie (Matt Frewer). She also met Evie Cho, a bioengineer, who later revealed that she knows about the Leda clones and discovered that Beth is one of them.
Back at home, Beth set up hidden cameras. When Paul (Dylan Bruce) arrived, they started to argue and she subsequently left and went to Art (Kevin Hanchard). The two kissed and had sex. Later that night, she received a call from a woman from Club Neolution who said that her boyfriend, Aaron, was with the two EMTs that M.K. witnessed.
While Beth and the man she met at the police station watched the EMTs cut away Aaron’s cheek to remove a type of bug, she backed away and made a huge noise to alert everyone. She tried to hide and upon being startled by Maggie Chen, fired her weapon at the latter and killer her. The police arrived and Beth realized that Neolution has already infiltrated the cops.
After Beth shot Maggie, she went to talk to M.K. personally.
TV.com notes that the episode was a means of explaining the events that led to that fateful night on the tracks in Season 1.
In an interview with TVLine, co-creators Graeme Manson and John Fawcett said that Sarah will rely a lot on M.K. in the following episodes. However, M.K. will be highly elusive and will not provide answers too quickly. She will be Sarah’s “window” because M.K. knew Beth and understood the progress in her investigation before she died. M.K. also has a lot of skills and is good at acquiring information and using available resources.
“Orphan Black” will air next on April 21, 2016 on BBC America in the US and on Syfy in Australia.
