'Outlander' fans have a chance to win a trip to Scotland; Sam Heughan heading to Sydney
In celebration of the return of “Outlander” with Season 2, family business Walkers Shortbread is offering two people a chance to visit Scotland. The trip is reportedly for 10 days and all expenses will be borne by the company.
The winners will get to experience the Scottish history as they visit Edinburgh, the Orkney Islands and Skye, Scotland Now reports. Fans of Diana Gabaldon’s books and the TV series may also visit some of the historical sites that are relevant to the story.
The contest is not available for Aussies, however, and only US residents can apply. Participants need to be over 18 in order to compete for 25 first prizes and all the first prize winners will receive a prize pack.
There is some good news for Aussie fans too. Sam Heughan (Jamie) will be visiting Sydney this month and will be staying here on March 21 and 22, if.com reports. It is not clear at the moment how and where the star plans to interact with the fans, once he is in the city.
Filming of “Outlander” Season 2 wrapped recently and the cast is expected to be promoting the show more aggressively now that they are relatively free. The main plot of the next season takes Jamie and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) to France, but they will return to Scotland in the second half of the season.
The producers have released a new set of pictures that have been posted on the official Outlander Community website. The pictures show the extravagant costumes Terry Dresbach has created for the show.
The pictures indicate that “Outlander” Season 2 will once again show two timelines. While Jamie and Claire are involved in French politics, Frank (Tobias Menzies) may be seen in the 1940s. The trailer of the next season teases that Claire will eventually time travel again to the 1940s and be reunited with her first husband.
