'Outlander' stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe not dating; Diana Gabaldon tweets new cover for tie-in novel
“Outlander” stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are tired of being asked whether the two are dating. In a recent interview, the two actors denied that there was any off screen romance going on between the two.
“Honestly I’m tired of that conversation,” Balfe (Claire) told Entertainment Weekly. The actress said that the idea of her dating her fellow cast member was “fantasy” and pointed out that the on screen romance was their job and they are different in their private lives.
“We are best friends,” Balfe said about her relationship with Heughan (Jamie). She said that they were able to get along with each other from the moment they met. She also praised Heughan for being a generous man who has no ego.
Heughan on the other hand understands that some fans may feel a little “let down” after learning that they are not dating. “It saddens me a bit but I guess that means we’ve done a good job,” Heughan said. The actor said that he is still coming to terms with the scrutiny of his private life, thanks to the success of “Outlander” TV series. The actor also complimented Balfe and repeated that they are good friends.
“I think I’m just waiting for the moment that she’s had too much whiskey and then we’ll agree to it,” Heughan joked. So, the fans who are keen on seeing the two actors date in real life can still hope to see that someday.
Meanwhile, Diana Gabaldon has tweeted a new picture of her book “Dragonfly in Amber.” The plot of the next season of the TV series is based on the book. Gabaldon is releasing a tie-in edition of the book.
“Outlander” Season 2 takes Jamie and Claire to France, where there will be a lot of political intrigue. The characters will return to Scotland in the latter half of the season and will be involved in the battle to save the Highlander culture.
