'Outlander': Sam Heughan visits Chrysalis Festival; New behind-the-scenes picture
“Outlander” star Sam Heughan took some time to visit the Chrysalis Festival and spoke to some of the young actors there. The actor is currently busy filming Season 3 of the popular Starz TV series and a new behind-the-scenes picture of the actor from the set has surfaced online.
Chrysalis brings together leading youth theater companies from across Europe to showcase their acting and writing talents. This year it is being held from Nov. 18 to 20th at Edinburgh’s Traverse Theatre.
The companies that will be participating this year are Platform Young Company (Glasgow), Tron Young Company (Glasgow), Sounds Like Chaos and The Albany (Deptford), Strange Town (Edinburgh), Macrobert Young Company (Stirling), Nicholas Barton-Wines with Beacon Youth Theatre (Greenock) and Teatru Manoel Youth Theatre (Malta).
“Chrysalis launched in 2015 as a new theatre festival and the only platform of its kind in Scotland for ambitious and provocative performance by young theatre-makers,” according to a press release. The project aims to attract new audiences to youth theatre arts, inspire Scotland’s youth arts sector and enhance public perception of creative work by young people. For more details and tickets, readers can go to Traverse.
Readers should note that before winning the hearts of people across the globe by his performance in “Outlander,” Heughan cut his dramatic teeth as a member of the Lyceum Youth Theatre in Edinburgh and is now patron of Youth Theatre Arts Scotland (YTAS). The actor has not forgotten his roots, and has worked to inspire the next generation of actors and others involved in theatre.
Meanwhile, a behind-the-scenes picture of Heughan has been posted on SamCaitLife. It is not clear if the picture is from the production set of “Outlander” Season 3, or if it is from one of the previous season of the popular TV series. Co-executive Producer Matthew B. Roberts has also shared a picture from the set to help the fans get through Droughtlander.
