'Outlander' Season 2: Comte St. Germain is 'bad boy' and fans will love him, says Caitriona Balfe
Cast member Caitriona Balfe described the new villain in “Outlander” Season 2 as a “bad boy” and added that the fans will love him. Stanley Weber, the actor who plays the villain on the show, said that he considers his character to be just another member of the French court going about his work.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, Balfe (Claire) praised her fellow cast member for being “sweet” and also teased that she has some “fun scenes” with Weber, along with Sam Heughan (Jamie). She also described Comte St. Germain as a “bad boy” and said that Weber was “easy on the eyes.”
Weber said that from his point of view Comte St. Germain is not a villain, but just another member of the French court. With the arrival of Claire in the city, he loses a ship and his cargo, resulting in some heavy losses. The character will plan some revenge on the couple in the future episodes of “Outlander” Season 2.
Executive Producer Maril Davis revealed that they were initially having some trouble in casting the new villain for the show. The casting call they had sent out was for an older gentleman. However, when they met Weber; he turned out to be a “lovely guy” in person and at the same time showed how “evil and diabolical” he can be on screen.
Weber said that he was happy to be on board and tried to give his best performance for the show. He said that he attempted to picture Comte St. Germain in an unexpected way, while at the same time staying faithful to the book and the storyline.
“Outlander” Season 2 is based on the book “Dragonfly in Amber,” by Diana Gabaldon. Starz has now released a clip from the next episode of the show, teasing a meeting between Jamie and Prince Charles (Andrew Gower).
